The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at UTRGV is for those who enjoy learning about the complex ways that the elements on the periodic table combine and have a passion for research. This program will prepare you for a lucrative career in research or to pursue graduate studies in chemistry related disciplines.
Students receiving the BS Degree in Chemistry (Broadfield Major) can continue their academic studies into masters or doctoral programs in Chemistry or can use the degree to find employment as a chemist. This degree can also be combined with teacher certification work to enter a career as a secondary school teacher of chemistry. The Chemistry (Broadfield Major) degree is certified by the American Chemical Society. Some of the topics that students will explore include biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, and nutritional and exercise biochemistry.
Use the knowledge and skills that you learn through the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at UTRGV to research and analyze substance to an anatomical level.
UTRGV gave me the opportunity to be near home as I started in higher education. For me, family is essential to support me in every step I make. UTRGV has taught me about the possibilities available to me in the world and the greater opportunities you can obtain by working hard. In addition, I like the fact that the UTRGV faculty are welcoming and accessible to the students.
UTRGV is my home. The Student Union is where I’m currently employed, and it’s amazing. I couldn’t ask for a better group of coworkers and staff. I’m at the university most of the day at least five days a week, but the sense that everyone works together to make the best environment possible for both employees and students makes that time breeze by. I’ve met countless friends and kept up with even more here at UTRGV. These connections are deeply embedded in my heart.
