Update to Harlingen Park & Ride Operations
This August, Vaquero Express moved out of the Harlingen campus (HCEBL) to a temporary park and ride location at the Harlingen Soccer Complex. The demand has been unprecedented, with over 200 vehicles parked there at peak and ridership increasing by over 10%. This new arrangement has presented challenges. We've heard your concerns and are adjusting our plans to ensure your parking and riding experience improves.
Effective Tuesday, September 10th, Vaquero Express will now stop at HCEBL in addition to the Harlingen Park & Ride Soccer Complex.
In addition, Harlingen Circulator hours have been extended to provide connectivity between the Harlingen Soccer Complex and HCEBL. Hours of service will be 6:30 AM starting at the Soccer Complex with a last trip from there to HCEBL at 12:15 AM. Frequency is about every 10 minutes.
HCEBL is open from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday – Thursday (7:10 AM – 5:00 PM on Friday). UTRGV Police Department always has a presence at HCEBL.
If you park in Harlingen:
You can continue to park at the Harlingen Soccer Complex free of charge. Vaquero Express will transport you to the Edinburg or Brownsville campuses. If you prefer a pick-up from HCEBL, the Harlingen Circulator will transport you from the Soccer Complex to HCEBL where you will board the Vaquero Express.
If you get dropped off in Harlingen:
You may be dropped off at HCEBL and board the Vaquero Express going to either our Brownsville or Edinburg campuses.

Other Improvements
Last week, we added two new buses to our Vaquero Express fleet to increase seating capacity. We have installed tents and seating at the Harlingen Park & Ride Soccer Complex. These amenities will continue as we work to identify a more permanent solution for a waiting area. In addition, we will continue distributing cold water and rain ponchos to passengers.
UTRGV Police Department has also stationed a permanent position at the Harlingen Soccer Complex to provide security to the area. In addition, a parking attendant is stationed there from sunset until the last Vaquero Express departure.
